A study was conducted to examine the determinants of regular aerobic exercise participation among elderly persons in a structured setting within Fresno County, California. The population consisted of independently living adults who were 65 years or older. Various factors associated with exercise behavior were explored, including personal health status, socioeconomics, preventive health behaviors, and self-efficacy. Comparisons were made between the two study groups.;The study targeted three residential retirement facilities located within the metropolitan area. All three of the facilities offered ongoing exercise opportunities to their senior residents. A total of one hundred and five seniors, both men and women, participated in the study. The data concluded that, in comparison with non-aerobic exercisers, aerobic exercisers practiced more preventive health behaviors, had higher perceptions of personal health, and demonstrated higher rates of self-efficacy.
