Abstract/Summary:
Distance learning has been implemented at many universities and colleges that market educational services to students beyond their geographical boundaries. There are about a dozen institutions that offer a distance learning software engineering program in the United States of America. This thesis project seeks to draw useful conclusions from variables that characterize graduate distance learning software engineering programs. E-mail surveys were sent to institutions offering undergraduate and graduate distance learning software engineering programs. Of the six institutions responding to the survey, only one offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. Data shortage of other undergraduate programs resulted in the use of only data from graduate programs. From the survey responses, ten variables were studied by using two sets of correlation matrices. Thirteen findings were identified from the correlation matrices, which offer insights into useful policy parameters for the design and operation of a successful graduate distance learning software engineering program.
