An examination of private water use for agricultural production at the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity, Huntsville, Utah

The Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity requested an examination of the quantity and quality of their critical water source. Three objectives were considered concerning the implementation of a water management plan. First, the determination of the water quality. Secondly, the assessment of the nutrient discharge levels at the Animal Feeding Operation (AFO). Thirdly, the water flow and availability of water from Spring 1 by adding Spring 2 and 3 for municipal use by the Town of Huntsville.; Recommendations indicated that the formation of a water budget and water shortage contingency plan in conjunction with a feed budget, the enhancement of research opportunities, and a conservation easement could best serve the Abbey. The Abbey must look towards providing a sustainable environment and agricultural practice if they are to continue to prosper in the Ogden Valley.
