Abstract/Summary: | |
The objective of the research project was to determine the affect of spraying water on residential air conditioner condenser coils. A commercially available water spray device was used for the test. The performance of the air conditioner was quantified with a dimensionless Coefficient of Performance (COP). The COP was calculated with no spray, spray on, and spray on half of full flow. The test was conducted at a variety of ambient air temperatures ranging from 77{dollar}spcirc{dollar}F to 90{dollar}spcirc{dollar}F. The results showed that the spray device was effective in increasing the COP of the air conditioner. The spray device reduced the power consumption of the outdoor unit but did not change the indoor cooling capacity. |
