Atomization is a common phenomenon in industrial applications, such as internal combustion engines, aircraft engines, and liquid rocket engines, and its essence is that the liquid fuel is crushed and atomized by nozzles, mix the liquid fuel with air, and then burn. So it is crucial to study the spray which can promote the development of human, so researchers never stop studying the atomization of liquid fuel. Currently, transcritical and supercritical spray are the newest ones among the atomization studies. Therefore, the focus of this study is to study the influence factors and the characteristics of the fuel spray in the transcritical condition. This paper introduces the research background and the subject in the current situation, and determine the research methods and the research content; secondly, by calculating devise the research test systems and measurement systems if the liquid fuel spray in transcritical conditions, and analyze the feasibility and safety of this system, choose the four similar liquid fuels to do the experiments; again, similar principle is introduct in a simple way, and do a detailed summary and analysis to the experimental data which obtained by experimental measurements; finally analyze the data obtained experimentally using the way of dimensionless analysis. It has been summarized that the influence factors and the characteristics of the fuel spray in the transcritical condition.(1)When the atomized liquid fuel is in a transcritical condition, the results of atomized liquid fuel are quite different from that in subcritical conditions. The physical properties of liquid fuel itself, such as viscosity, surface tension, influence the atomization of the liquid fuel very little in transcritical conditions. In transcritical conditions, the atomization of liquid fuel is very similar to the gas jet.(2) The main factors which affect the atomization of liquid fuel in critical conditions are the spray pressure and back pressure.(3) In the transcritical conditions, when the pressure of the liquid fuel atomization is increased, the spray penetration of all the experimented liquid fuels becomes long. But the pressure of spray has very little influence for the spray angle.(4)The main influence factor for the spray angle in the transcritical conditions is the back pressure. The larger the back pressure, the greater the atomization angle.(5) Through the analysis by similarity theory, the results can be drawn that the influence factors and the characteristics of the fuel spray in the transcritical condition. The Reynolds number of dimensionless number influence the fuel spray a lot in the transcritical condition., this is very similar to the gas jet.
