Epoxy resins have been used for grouting cracks in concrete, open joints in masonry, and construction gaps in structures for strengthening. These synthetic adhesive materials require a special technique for grouting. Many of the grouting failures can be related to failing to set minimum crack width to be injected, quality control, and equipment deficiencies. These failures have been studied for other reinforced concrete elements (beams, columns, and slabs), and these studies recommended several procedures to improve the grouting technique.Cracked reinforced concrete walls can be restored using the same method for bonding. They also showed the same type of failure which required a detailed study of the causes to prevent future cracks in the same location. The study focused on investigating the effectiveness of the epoxy injection method in restoring the structural integrity of crack damaged reinforced concrete walls, and preventing future failure near the cracked areas. |
