Abstract/Summary:
The focus of the research is to study passenger behavior at bus stops with various service headways. Survey is conducted taking into account the service characteristics as well as the passenger behavior patterns. This survey was mainly concentrated on residential areas with bus stops having different service headways.;The data obtained from the survey was used for understanding the dependence of the passenger wait time on the different service as well as the behavior aspects of the passengers.;Three perspectives of passenger wait time were taken into consideration: actual wait time, planned wait time and perceived wait time which were studied in different scenarios: all, high frequency and low frequency serviced bus stops.;Two techniques based on Regression Analysis and Artificial Neural Networks were used to develop predictive models on the three perspectives of passenger wait times. Finally, performance of these models was tested and compared.
