Abstract/Summary:
This thesis presents a method of performing automated testing in certain kinds of platforms that do not have enough resources to run a testing harness. This method could also be used to test a program that runs under a different operating system than the test harness. With the aid of emulators, these resource-limited platforms can be tested with automated testing tools. Two kinds of emulators, for the Palm pilot and small Pentium PC that have low frequency CPUs, small storage space and little RAM, are discussed in detail. A virtual device driver is implemented and demonstrated to communicate with applications running inside the small Pentium PC emulators.
