Software testing is one of the most critical steps in the software development process. It plays a significant role in ensuring the quality of software products. Automated software testing is taking its role in automating the testing process without human's interference, which enhances the efficiency of software testing. Moreover, the UI-based automated testing has covered a considerable percentage of the whole automated testing field. Since people are willing to utilize the advanced technology of UI-based automated testing in order to increasingly improve the efficiency of testing, it is practical and meaningful to have a research on UI-based automated testing.Based on the concept, the thesis gives a general idea of the research background and the current situation for the automated testing at the beginning. After that, a bigger picture is given on the basic theories for both the automated testing and user interface testing. In cons tract with the data-driven automated system whose testing scripts can not be easily applied to the changeable software business, the thesis comes up with the keyword-driven testing system for the UI automated testing and has a deep insight into the system. With the combination of practical projects, the thesis demonstrates the workflow for UI-based testing which uses the keyword-driven method in detail. In addition to that, a brand new way of how to organize and manage testing scripts is brought forward based on the own-developed platform. Through this method, the testing efficiency will definitely be taken to a higher level.
