Abstract/Summary:
In multi-hop heterogeneous Mobile Wireless Networks (MWNs), when a node communicates with out-of-range nodes, it uses an intermediate node to forward messages. The advantage of a multi-hop heterogeneous MWN is its increased range, which requires no major infrastructure investment. Existing protocols, such as the Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR), are not intended to be used in heterogeneous networks that consist of portable and battery-driven devices. The behavior of a node informs us whether it can successfully forward the packets. Using a single-dimension trust value is insufficient to predict a mobile node's behavior. The current project presents a Multi-Dimensional Trust-Based Reliable and Secure Protocol (MTRSP), which computes four different trust values and predicts a node's behavior, forwarding messages through reliable and secure nodes. Simulation results show that the MTRSP offers a substantially improved packet throughput, and a stable, secure, and reliable route for communication as compared to the DSR protocol.
