Abstract/Summary:
By combining space and time diversity. Space-Time block coding is an interesting solution to improve overall wireless system performances without any increase of bandwidth requirement.; In this thesis, we studied a radio channel model suitable for frequency flat fading channels in the case of multiple antennae's architecture. The approach is based on an efficient approximation of filtered white Gaussian noise processes by finite sums of properly weighted sinusoids with uniformly distributed phases. The simulation model is used to study the behavior of Space-Time block codes on time selective channels.; Prior works showed the extreme STBC's performance degradation with the estimation error of the channel. This document introduces a pilot symbol insertion technique of length equals to the number of transmit antennae. An analysis of this method is presented: it reveals that for slow time variant channels, the system performances are close to those obtained when perfect channel knowledge is assumed at the receiver.
