Culturally sensitive support groups for Cambodian parents: A grant proposal

The proposed support group was designed to bring awareness to the unique needs of Cambodian parents who experienced the period of the Khmer Rouge and subsequently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Many parents in the Cambodian communities have distressing untreated symptoms that may affect their daily social functioning. The support group will consist of parents who experienced the Khmer Rouge during their childhood, age 4 or older, who now are in their 40s and 50s and who reside in Los Angeles County. The goals of the proposed program are increased social support and a strengthened support system among Cambodian parents. Actual submission and/or funding of the grant was not required for the successful completion of this project.
