The purpose of this study is to examine in-depth what is involved in the process of developing and implementing an effective postsecondary ESL program for a liberal arts college. In doing so, I would hope to ensure the quality of ESL courses in terms of effectiveness and accountability for both English language learners and for ESL instructors. Through this research, I have investigated the effectiveness of postsecondary ESL programs and how programs are designed and implemented. Through this research, I hope to develop a relevant curriculum which more closely addresses the context of Knox College and the identities of the ELLs who enroll there. To accomplish the projected goal, a Comprehensive Literature Review of postsecondary ESL curriculum implementation has been conducted. The result of the study will assist in developing a curriculum for use in a postsecondary ESL program at a liberal arts college.
