| This study explains the history and background of financial aid, the changing trends in student populations, the greater need for further education and job training for older and non-traditional students, and the obstacles and roadblocks faced by non-traditional college students when dealing with financial aid rules and stipulations. This project demonstrates, that, at present, the non-traditional student faces some financial aid challenges that the traditional college student does not encounter. Non-traditional college students are a growing force in higher education, but the financial aid system, and the higher education system in general, have not yet caught up with their needs.In conclusion the study focuses on some new changes that are on the horizon for these students. Suggestions for further improvements will be recommended. |
