Twenty-first Century Skill Development as Supported through Free Choice Pla

Twenty-first Century Learning addresses a broad range of skills geared toward preparing students to live and work in a rapidly evolving technologically based global society. Emphasizing the increased influence of information and communication technologies on social and work relationships, subsets of socio-emotional, interpersonal and personal development skills are at the heart of most Twenty-first Century (C21) frameworks. Research suggests many of these skills naturally develop and are strengthened during children's play activity. This work explores the similarities between the skills nurtured during unstructured play and those that lay the foundation for C21 skills and lifelong learning.
