This thesis pairs texts from Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Virginia Woolf in an effort to highlight aspects of each authors' works that have gone largely unnoticed or underexplored. The first chapter will pair Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper" with Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway in order to study the two authors' expressions of their experiences when placed on the rest cure. The second pairing consists of Gilman's Women and Economics and Woolf's A Room of One's Own, illustrating the two women's views on early feminism. Finally, Gilman's Herland and With Her in Ourland will be paired with Woolf's Three Guineas, moving the women into a more sociological position---exploring each woman's arguments concerning how women could be the answer to the prevention of war. Not only does this examination provide new interpretations of these specific works, but it provides a new lens through which to view both authors' entire collections.
