| Art Therapy is the unique combination of art and psychotherapy. The purpose of this study is to consider what postmodern thought is and how we can utilize existing expressive arts /art therapy theories to create a richer explanation of postmodern themes. By using a qualitative research, the thesis will provide the main postmodern figures and their thoughts from various fields, which include psychology, philosophy, aesthetics, literature, and other related art fields. It examines the potential contribution of postmodern philosophy in the field of art therapy with an attempt to generate philosophical groundings in major theories, by accessing, comparing, and relating current expressive arts/ art therapy to postmodern ideas. Lastly, three postmodern artists were selected as interviewees. Their responses clarify the connection between expressive arts and art therapy experiences and postmodern art, which will provide greater insight by giving suggestions for future research and perspective on the field of Art therapy. |
