Application of graphic social network in ancient Chinese history research

Abstract/Summary:
Recent years have witnessed the prosperity of social networks, which enable people instantly establish long distance social relationship that seems an impossible mission in the past. People from different corners of the planet can make new friends and communicate with them through the Internet. Popular social networks such as Facebook, YouTube, Weibo, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr and Instagram have been reshaping our life every day. Users can find other peers sharing common interests or interact with different people. Due to the increasing user demand on social networks and the growing impact of social networking platforms, the value of research on the social network environments has been widely recognized. Inspired by the social network's features, this work will build a system to dynamically create a social network graph of two ancient Chinese's families and also creates a shortest path between these two people. Generally, a user provides two ancient Chinese and the system will give their families' connections. In this thesis, two groups ancient Chinese will be the test groups as sources of this system. These two groups' people are from Song Dynasty, and have significant impacts on Chinese history. Through the interesting experiment result, this system successfully creates the social network graph and the shortest paths.
