On Chinese Social Value Transition In The Recent60Years Judging From "Two Hundred People"

With the development of communication technologies and the accelerateprocess of globalization, it is essential to enhance the value of social dominant, toconsolidate ethnic value, and to realize the mission of social conformity undercircumstance of constructing harmonious society. As far as media is concerned, itsfeatures should be fully applied to advocate values. Hence, news reports shouldundertake this function.After the spring festival,2010, CCTV launched a feature called “Two HundredPeople”. Meanwhile, People’s Daily and People’s Daily Online spared no effort toreport “Two Hundred People”. The purpose and significance of “Two HundredPeople” selection is using mainstream spirit and values bearing in heroic deeds toinfluence social value orientation and to improve the whole nation’s spiritual realm.The present study will use the news report of “One hundred people moving thecountry ever since the foundation of the new China” in “Two Hundred People”posted in People’s Daily as research discourse. The study will categorize these100people in terms of time phase, and will select typical samples. Content analysis, astructural analysis, will be applied to have a general study of the discourse. Aftercase study, social values advocated in each phase will be generated, and also thesesocial value features as well as the connections between the values in differentphases will be studied. Finally, at the end of the essay, the crucial elements affectingvalue transition will be discussed.
