Abstract/Summary:
This was a non-experimental study exploring factors which influence HPV vaccination uptake among undergraduate female students at a public university in New England. A convenience sample of female students enrolled in Wellness courses during the spring 2012 semester were recruited for participation. The instrument used was an 18-item survey, which collected data on current HPV knowledge, HPV vaccination beliefs and intentions, and demographic characteristics. The results confirmed that level of knowledge was consistent with the current body of literature on HPV knowledge. The total amount of participants who reported to have received HPV vaccination was 44 (62.0%). This percentage was higher than the current body of literature on HPV vaccination uptake. Future research in this area is recommended, as well as exploring HPV vaccination uptake among males.
