Ecotourism: A Strategic Campaign for Tourism in Finland

Abstract/Summary:
The following research was designed to produce a strategic campaign for the tourist board of Finland. First, the researcher examined international travel and tourism trends. Understanding the competition and economy are critical factors to the tourism industry. This paper further provides statistics for tourism in Finland. The next portion of the paper described Finland and some of its characteristics. After that, it defined destination branding and presented examples of strong country brands. The basis for a strategic campaign for Finland is to enhance its country brand and increase tourism. One possible brand is ecotourism. Thus, this research provides an in-depth explanation of ecotourism. Additionally, online marketing is examined because of the impact the Internet has on international travel. The research regarding international travel, Finnish tourism and ecotourism determined an appropriate strategy for the campaign.
