Abstract/Summary:
The composite materials are widely used to manufacture pans for automotive, aircraft, marine and sports applications. Resin Tranfer Molding (RTM) is one of the numerous composite manufacturing processes. One of the limitations of this process is the fact that it requires long manufacturing times. To optimize RTM process; the polymerization stage must be well understood and mastered. This memory focuses on the study of the curing phase during composite manufacturing. This work proposes a methodology allowing to characterize the cure kinetics of thermosets. This methodology was then implemented in a software named PolyKinetic. This software was applied subsequently to characterize the cure kinetics of an industrial epoxy resin. This study also reports on a code developed for predicting both the curing and the temperature evolution through the thickness of a composite part. This code is based on finites differential and implemented in a software named PolyCure. Numerical validations of the software are presented.
