Abstract/Summary:
A switched order statistics CFAR (SW-OS) test that is simple to design is proposed for the purpose of detecting a radar target in the presence of non homogenous clutter and/or multiple interfering targets situation. Detection performance of the proposed scheme is compared to that of the order statistics (OS) and the switching CFAR (S-CFAR) tests in the homogenous and multiple interfering targets environments. Simulation Results show that for Rayleigh target and Rayleigh clutter the SW-OS performs similar to the order statistics OS test in the homogenous background and much better than OS in the case of multiple interfering targets. Comparisons with the S-CFAR indicate that SW-OS performs slightly worse than S-CFAR in the homogenous background; however it performs better under multiple interfering targets. Further improvement is possible through better selection of the design parameters.
