Abstract/Summary:
A ground based search radar is a complex system which requires several phases of development in order to construct a system level design. In the development of such a system, it must be shown that the desired performance will be attained and any requirements will be met. This thesis is a presentation of the design of a ground based, search radar which is to provide surveillance and 3-D tracking for air defense. The desired performance requirements and design constraints are described for which each component is developed in order to meet or surpass. The development of each aspect of the radar including the antenna, waveform, surveillance process, signal processor and receiver is provided. The discussion and analysis given for each component provides an explanation of the design and illustrates how the related requirement is met. The system design is thus shown to meet the desired performance.
