Abstract/Summary:
This study examined possible strategies for the certification of Learning and Performance Advisors (LPAs) at Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA). LPA certification would assist CATSA in ensuring that a consistent level of training and testing is provided to the screening officers across Canada. As national consistency and procedural accuracy is important to the level of security offered in Canada's airports it is important that CATSA can demonstrate that LPAs maintain a high level of expertise and stay current with changing policies and procedures. This study explored new ways to help achieve CATSA's vision of corporate and operational expertise in a time of growth and diversification. The study discovered that elements such as relevant training and evaluation, a flexible framework, and continued participation by the LPAs would benefit the program and increase its opportunity for success. The Royal Roads University Research Ethics Policy (2007) was adhered to throughout this study.
