Abstract/Summary:
Companies all over the world are always looking for new technologies to efficiently produce quick prototypes during the research stage of their projects. The Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines, laser cutting machines, and drilling machines are among the most common machinery used to produce quick prototyping. Additionally, in the last couple of years, many companies have also adopted 3D printers in an attempt to produce quick and cost effective prototypes. In short, all these machines are high precision tools used to produce prototypes and mass production products. It is obvious that these machines have different requirements, but they do share similar traits.;The goal of this research project is to combine some of the similarities in the previously mentioned machines, into a generic framework that can be reused by one universal platform, capable of three-dimensional movement. This would essentially allow companies the capability to perform various manufacturing operations with only one machine. Essentially, this project is capable of potentially replacing a company's old machinery such as the CNC machines, the laser-cutting machines or drilling machines and thereby, saving space, cost and development time for future projects.
