Abstract/Summary:
RecycleBot 2.0 is an integrated trash sorting and separating system designed to answer the need of recycling in a modern environment without burdening the user. Thus, RecycleBot 2.0 is a single container which can accept any sort of item and can perform the separation internally based on a computer vision system. The interior contains two sub-sections: a sorting and separating system, which detects, categorizes, and separates the discarded items, and a multi-receptacle section to store the separate categories of discarded items for recycling, as required by many municipalities. The automation of this process removes the obligation to do so manually by the user, a superficial task which is often not performed, leading to underutilization of recyclable materials and increased waste and energy consumption.
