Abstract/Summary:
Great Plains Environment for Network Innovation (GpENI) is an international networking test bed that provides a virtual networking environment for researchers and users to evaluate or test their applications, services and protocols. The goal is to provide programmable networking resources, which include virtual interfaces, virtual links and other components.;In this thesis, we present the virtual routing platform of GpENI test bed that is based on VINI-VERITAS to create the GpENI-VINI environment. Specifically, XORP (open source routing software) is integrated into the GpENI-VINI environment so that researchers can use routing protocols such as OSPF. Furthermore, several features were automated to significantly help researchers and users to use the GpENI-VINI virtual networks. In particular, through these virtual resources and XORP services, virtualized routing services are available to researchers and users to build and study network topologies, routing functions, and applications performance.
