Abstract/Summary:
This study was conducted to assess participants' views of computer use and technical support at Christian K-12 Schools. The primary research methodology chosen for this study was phenomenological where this researcher sets aside preconceived beliefs about the phenomena to gain a better understanding through the participants of the study. A survey instrument was developed and administered to five thousand six hundred and thirty two participants in grades one through twelve at one hundred sixty nine Christian schools. The survey instrument consisted of a self-administered questionnaire that was patterned after a Likert Scale with multiple ratings of agreement and disagreement.; The survey data was designed to reveal whether or not Christian school participants are capable of operating computer based technologies, need additional time to develop, plan, and implement classroom lessons with the use of computer based technologies, require more adequate and personal technical support, require staff development training, and if they use computer technologies at home.; Data analysis has determined that Christian school participants need further training in the use of computers in the classroom, need a centralized technology support program implemented to assist participants with hardware and software problems, and that there is a need for the initiation of a peer-to-peer teaching program that encourages collaboration when acquiring new computer skills. The data analysis also suggests a need for the establishment of a technology mentoring team by content area to evaluate and assist participants with the integration of computers into the curriculum.; All participants in this research were employed by a Christian school and have the necessary professional credentials needed for classroom instruction. This research can be generalized to other participants and schools within the county, state or to the country, and should enhance the existing body of knowledge regarding computer based technology use and the technical support needed in the classroom.
