| Reduce-Reuse-Recycle strategies (3RS) are important to industry for a number of reasons. Lower waste treatment, raw material, and energy costs can provide the competitive edge that companies need in order to gain market share in highly competitive markets. Production facilities planned for construction in developing countries benefit by minimizing utility demands and infrastructure costs. Companies certified to IS014000 standards may implement such strategies to reduce the environmental impact of their operations.; The goal of this research was to apply 3RS to an existing process operated by Degussa Corporation in Theodore, Alabama in order to lower the overall resource requirements and environmental impact of the process. Three separate strategies were applied in order to achieve this goal. |
