Abstract/Summary:
The task of a thesis assumes that one can make a "positive" statement, which can be directly conveyed. This thesis disputes that claim and instead turns the necessity of writing from conveyance to belief. It is important to believe and discuss, where it may be futile and impossible to explain. The focus of any writing should be to "bare witness," that belief is possible, over explanation of a specific belief. This undertaking further explores whether an artist can predict what the affect of a visual arts practice might be, given the prior deconstruction of explanation. The paper goes on to fight for a practice, which earnestly attempts to set up "the conditions for event," but does not claim success prior to execution.
