The purpose of this meta analysis is to gain a better understanding of the problems facing public child welfare workers in the United States. It reviews research on public child welfare workers and the training of public child welfare workers. It looks closely at the problems within the public child welfare system that affect child welfare workers and their practice including the lack of education and training of workers.;This meta analysis revealed systematic and organizational problems, burnout and stress, and retention and turnover as areas of concern for public child welfare workers. In addition, the lack of education and training makes it difficult for workers to cope with these problems. This review provides training recommendations for workers as well as recommendations for change in policy and areas for future research. This information may be beneficial to social workers, supervisors, administrators in the public child welfare field. |
