| This study analyzes how Indian Internet service providers are affected by regulations and policy strategies taken up by the government. A multiple case study was done in order to answer two questions. (1) What are the regulatory factors which hinder the broadband growth in India? (2) Do operators expect broadband policies to be changed? If yes, what policy changes do they expect?;The above given research questions were answered by investigating the credibility of three propositions based on telecommunication policies, relation between broadband penetration catalysts and performance of Incumbent operators.;The document is divided into four sections. The first section gives a brief introduction on telecommunication policies, telecommunications/broadband in India and on this studies scope. The second section briefs on the research methodology employed for this study. In addition, it contains information on how this study was validated. The third section, studies results has individual case reports for both, incumbents and private operators directed towards the developed propositions. Also, a generalized study titled cross case analysis report contains an overall report on policies adversely affecting service providers. In the last section, recommendations for increasing broadband penetration and suggestions for further study are given. |
