| The purpose of this project is to produce a more refined and accurate English translation with partial commentaries on the Awakening of Faith. This Sastra has been extensively studied throughout East Asian history, yet only four English versions exist up to this date.;The Awakening of Faith is a condensed version of many key philosophies contained in several major schools of Mahayana Buddhism including the Hua-yan, Tian-tai, Chan, and Pure Land schools.;Basically, this Sastra exemplifies the concept that every single living being is replete with the Buddha nature and has the potential to become a Buddha. This concept is also the highest philosophy expounded in Mahayana Buddhism. Regardless of the doubts and disputes by modern scholars over the authorship and authenticity of the Awakening of Faith, this Sastra, undeniably, possesses prestigious status throughout Chinese and Japanese history, and has been widely studied and denoted. |
