The Music Fun Land Computer-Assisted Music Instruction program was designed and evaluated in a middle school music classroom. This program can help reinforce the basic elements of music to novice music students. The project consists of two phases: (1) The design of the computer-assisted program, and (2) The implementation of the program in a middle school music classroom. The project also includes an analysis of the effectiveness of the lessons presented in the program. The data collection instruments used were a teacher-generated pre-test, post-test and survey done on paper and 2 sets of assessment questions embedded in the computer program. It was concluded that there was a significant improvement in scores from the pre-test and the post-test but due to the small sample of participants (n = 21), definite conclusions could not be made. Recommendations from the author and the students were made for future revisions of the program.
