Abstract/Summary:
This project identifies energy flows in and around the First Nations community of Pictou Landing, Nova Scotia, Canada. In terms of electricity generation, the possibilities of wind power and tidal power are explored, and in terms of wastewater treatment, the possibility of sewage and pulp bleaching effluent are determined. Using architectural ideas, a broad but acutely meaningful framework is outlined for each energy harnessing site. Furthermore, one of the four sites is chosen and developed based on its potential to reinforce the culture and create a strong sense of autonomy amongst the people of the First Nations community.
