Abstract/Summary:
New Urbanism as equal parts design method and ideology is a movement whose goals are to change not only the physical landscape but also the mentality of its residents. New Urbanism's design elements are attempting to foster a decrease in automobile travel while encouraging public transportation and pedestrian travel. This study questions whether the design objectives of New Urbanism really alter human behavior. New Urbanism's in attempts to do so, pushes the limits of city planning.
