A parallel hybrid hydraulic pressure assist system has already been identified in the literature as being very effective for a refuse trucks application. However, this system has some shortcomings in terms of energy efficiency. This study shows an innovative and optimized version of this system. Its performances were estimated using a numerical simulation model using input data recorded on a refuse truck operating in real conditions. An analysis of 756 different configurations carried out with this model has determined that the optimal configuration returns 40.7% of the braking energy available to the engine power take off. This approximately corresponds to a 15.8 % fuel consumption reduction.;Keywords: Hybrid hydraulic system, refuse truck, waste management system. |
