| The journey home for a hero is one wrought with peril, adventure, love, and battles. The hero fights for what is right in order to save his land, the ones he loves, and himself. Many versions of the narrative have been told countless times since the ancient days of the Greeks.;American film has also recounted the story of the hero and his quest for home. This study examines, using narrative analysis, the Rocky saga and the quest of its hero, Rocky Balboa. Each of the six installments is examined identifying the stage and archetypal characters which were first identified by Joseph Campbell and then adapted for film analysis by Christopher Vogler. The combination of each of the films into a meta-narrative is also studied in the same manner identifying and analyzing each stage and character and their significance to the hero's journey of Rocky Balboa. |
