The aim of this thesis is to investigate the significance of web technology to home automation. To better demonstrate the significance, a working demonstration is developed involving weather monitoring and prediction. Specifically this involves choosing and programming a suitable embedded control system such that it acts as a link between a weather station, a personal computer at the observatory control room, as well as a website so that weather information may be accessed. The embedded control system is to be programmed such that samples from the weather station are taken at specified intervals and updated.; The accomplishments with relation to the web page implementation include a data link connection between a simulation of a Weather Station, Weather Station Personal Computer, and a Web Site using the Rabbit RCM 2200 Embedded Control System. Design and implementation of a website to update weather information was also carried out as well as development of a Dynamic C program to control data flow rate to a website, update weather information periodically, implementation of a rolling 24-hour weather history updated every hour, and a graphical representation of the rolling 24-hour weather history, updated hourly.
