The Quality Of Imported Intermediates,Learning Ability And Technological Innovation

This thesis studies the impact of the quality of intermediate products on corporate innovation and explores the moderating role of corporate learning capabilities.This thesis discusses the relationship between the quality of imports and innovation initially and the moderating role of learning ability briefly.Then,using the data of 175,075 imported intermediate products from the 2000-2006 database of China’s industrial enterprises and the database of China Customs,the empirical analysis and robustness test is performed under the control of time-fixed effects and industry-fixed effects through the OLS model.The following conclusions are reached.First,on the whole,the quality of imported intermediate products can significantly promote the technological innovation of Chinese enterprises,and the learning ability of enterprises will positively regulate the relationship between imported intermediate quality and enterprise innovation.Second,from the perspective of the nature of the enterprise,the import intermediate quality of non-state-owned enterprises is positively correlated with technological innovation,and learning ability will play a regulatory role between the import intermediate quality of non-state-owned enterprises and enterprise innovation,that is,imports will promote innovation,and with the continuous improvement of enterprises’ learning ability,the import quality of non-state-owned enterprises will promote the innovation of enterprises.However,the moderating effect of the learning ability of state-owned enterprises has no significant impact on technological innovation.Third,from the perspective of trade methods,the import of intermediate quality by non-source processing enterprises can promote enterprise innovation,and the learning ability of enterprises will enhance the promotion of import intermediate quality to enterprise innovation.However,the imported intermediate quality of imported processing enterprises has no significant effect on the innovation of enterprises,and the regulating effect of learning ability is also not significant.Fourth,from the perspective of regional differences,the intermediate quality of imports in the eastern and western regions of China has a significant effect on innovation,but it has a promoting effect in the eastern region and a suppressing effect in the western region;The interaction term of the intermediate quality of imports and learning competence is significantly positive in the western region,indicating that learning ability can positively regulate the relationship between imported intermediate quality and corporate innovation.The influence of imported intermediate quality on the technological innovation of enterprises in the central region is not significant,and the regulating effect of enterprises’ learning ability is also not significant.
