As an important part of tourism industry, accommodation industry will be in another round of growth fed by booming tourism.Reasonable layout of accommodation industry not only affects its own development, but also the development of tourism and other industries. Therefore,it is of great significance to clarify the spatiotemporal evolution mechanism of accommodation industry for promoting the overall competitiveness of regional tourism industry.Sharing accommodation,a latecomer to the accommodation industry,is thriving in these years. Are there any differences in the spatial layout and how could we quantify the spatial correlation effect between sharing and traditional accommodation? To figure all those questions out,in this paper,Shanghai,a domestic city with booming sharing economy, was used as the study area, and in the meantime, traditional accommodation and sharing accommodation were taken as the research objects.Based on GIS spatial analysis and Geodetector, the evolution mechanism of traditional and sharing accommodation and their influencing factors were investigated respectively. The results showed that:(1)From the perspective of temporal evolution, the Moran's I index of star hotels and chain hotels continued to increase from 2010 to 2019,which demonstrates an increasingly upward trend of spatial agglomeration.Nevertheless, the index of sharing accommodation expressed an inverse U-shaped curve. From the perspective of spatial evolution, the Moran's I index of star hotels, chain hotels and sharing accommodation experienced a trend of decreasing with the reduction of spatial scale, and the spatial agglomeration of sharing accommodation in the outer ring area was higher than that in the whole city and inner ring area in 2019.(2)According to the kernel density estimation, those three types of accommodations formed the same distribution characteristic of center gathering and periphery dispersing. The spatial expansion pattern of star hotels was dominated by contact diffusion in the early stage and jump diffusion in the later stage.Meanwhile, the spatial expansion pattern of chain hotels was dominated by contact diffusion and that of sharing accommodation presented a mixture of contact and jump diffusion.According to the bivariate autocorrelation, the spatial correlation of those three accommodations increased gradually during the research period.More specifically, the H-H clusters of star hotels and sharing accommodation and the H-H clusters of hotel chains and sharing accommodation were transformed from the initial point distribution to the final clustering distribution, indicating that positive relationship between traditional and shared accommodations was strengthened uninterruptedly.(3)The factors affecting the distribution of star hotels, chain hotels and sharing accommodations had a close resemblance, including spatial agglomerations, economic levels, traffic conditions and public services.Specifically, the spatial distribution of sharing accommodation was also limited by the supply of housing. In terms of the spatial evolution mechanism of the accommodation industry, natural background, service planning, and random factors determined the spatial distribution of accommodations by means of restriction mechanism, supply and demand mechanism, and trigger mechanism respectively. Moreover, the spatial evolution patterns of accommodation in Shanghai were formed through the cumulative effect of quantity and time.
