An Empirical Study On The Influence Of China's Provincial Product Space On Industrial Upgrading

Industrial upgrading is one of the most important problems in the process of industrial development,and the existing research thinks industrial upgrading from labor-intensive products to capital intensive products to technology intensive products,but how to determine the direction of industrial upgrading is not clear.Therefore the products made up for the lack of space theory,thinks from the micro products,industrial upgrading is fundamentally product upgrading,and product upgrading is the change of comparative advantage,therefore,on the basis of the original production capacity of endowment,one country jumping to the nearby products which has the comparative advantage is the product upgrading,product advantage transformation eventually become the industry's rising continuously.Therefore,using product space theory to study industrial upgrading has reached a consensus.The product space at the provincial level is highly heterogeneous,so the influence of product space at the provincial level on the industrial upgrading in China should be considered.In this paper,the main focus is on the characteristics of product space and its role in the process of industrial upgrading,and the differences in the product space of provinces in different regions,and such differences eventually lead to large differences in the industrial upgrading of different regions,and then different development suggestions are designed.The paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly includes the research background,research significance,research status at home and abroad,research contents and methods,innovation points and shortcomings.The second chapter is mainly the review of relevant theories,mainly includs the introduction and comparison of relevant theories of industrial upgrading.The third chapter mainly introduces the status quo of provincial product space and industrial upgrading.Firstly,it analyzes the status quo of product space of 31 provincial administrative regions in China from 2002 to 2017.Secondly,the comparative advantages of 94 products in 31 provincial administrative regions were analyzed.The fourth chapter is the empirical part,which makes an empirical study on the status of industrial upgrading of provincial product space,the overall relationship between product space and industrial upgrading,and then makes a specific study by region.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and policy suggestions.Among them,the basic conclusions are:(1)the change of Chinese provincial products comparative advantage there is significant positive effect with the size of the product density,and in the process of the development of the time,the effect is relatively stable,the product density on industrial upgrading of were significantly positive influence on the two aspects,namely on the one hand,lead free products into advantages products,on the other hand can prevent product lost power and influence.(2)the product density in the eastern region is similar to that in the national region,which effectively promotes the product upgrading.The product upgrading develops in a gradual linear path,while the influence of the central and western regions is relatively weak.The leading coefficient and stopping coefficient are both smaller than that in the eastern region and are not significant.(3)there are great differences in product agglomeration among the three economic regions.The products with higher product density in the eastern region are mostly industrial products,while the products with higher product density in the central and western regions are mostly concentrated in agricultural,sideline,grain and oil products,which also reflects the large development gap between different regions.(4)in view of the above conclusions on provincial product space and industrial upgrading,the following policy suggestions are put forward: strengthening the screening and cultivation of superior products,and promoting the formation of new comparative advantages;strengthening market-oriented reform,and creating a relatively free and loose institutional environment,and promoting fair and rational allocation of resources in the factor market;expanding the structure of factor endowments,and strengthening policy guidance,and implementing strategic emerging industrial policies.
