| Against the background of the prevailing protectionism and the surging globalization wave,in order to cope with the new international trade environment and restructure the opening-up pattern,China has elevated the construction of the Pilot Free Trade Zone to a national strategy.Since the establishment of the China(Shanghai)Pilot Free Trade Zone in 2013,the construction of the Pilot Free Trade Zone has developed rapidly,and the degree of openness has continued to deepen.Initially,it concentrated on the southeast coast.Now it has shown a new pattern of comprehensive coverage covering the eastern,central and western parts of China.Among them,in the third batch of seven provinces and cities with a pilot Free Trade Zone,in addition to Zhejiang and Liaoning these two coastal eastern provinces,there have Henan and Hubei in central China,Sichuan,Chongqing and Shaanxi in western China.These five pilot Free Trade Zones in the central and western regions are the first time that China has set up pilot trade zones in inland regions.Firstly,the author combed the literature on the economic effects of the free trade pilot zone and found that the existing literature lacked research on the effect of the Free Trade Zone on the central and western regions on the regional economy,and the impact of the Free Trade Zone on the central and western regions on the economic differences more rarely mentioned.Secondly,through the study of the classic trade theory and the theory of the Free Trade Zone,construct the theoretical mechanism of the positive effect of the Free Trade Zone on the regional economy.Thirdly,it introduces the current development status of these five Free Trade Zones and region economic in central and western China,Using provincial panel data from the first quarter of 2010 to the first quarter of 2019,and using the synthetic control method under the counterfactual analysis framework for empirical analysis,Selecting economic indicators such as import and export trade,fixedasset investment,and per capita GDP to conduct empirical analysis on the effects of the four Free Trade Zones in Shanxi,Sichuan,Hubei,and Henan on the regional economy.The result shows that these four Free Trade Zones have had different degrees of positive impacts on the regional economy,and through comparison,it is found that the effects of different Free Trade Zones on the regional economy show distinct characteristics.Finally,summarize the conclusions and put forward policy suggestions,with a view to providing useful reference for the construction of the Free Trade Zone at the theoretical and practical level. |
