Economic and trade activities of any Economies are conducted with interests as their fundamental starting point and destination.Of course,Japan and the US are no exception. After world war II,the US and Japan,as different Economies, were listed as"the world's largest economic power" and "the country that created the economic myth"respecti-vely.They all conducted trade exchanges based on their own interests. In this process, conflicts and issues inevitably appeared and frictions occurred frequently.Looking back on history,it is not difficult to find that trade frictions between Japan and the US began to emerge as early as the middle and late 1950s.After the 1960s,the trade friction between the two sides further deepened, and in the late 1960s evolved into a "trade war",showing a fierce competitive trend.Later,With the advent of Japan's trade surplus of 300 million dollars with the US in 1965,economic and trade frictions between the two sides began to rise to the height of "Trade War".By the 1980s,trade between Japan and the US was still full of acrimony, and then this "war without fire" was also stepped into the phase of overall escalation. It didn't end until the middle and late 1990s.In the process, the US took the initiative to take measures to curb the continuous expansion of the trade deficit, and Japan also made a positive response. The Trade Friction between Japan and the US has been continuously escalating and deepening.Furthermore, the tension of Offense-defense Confrontation was fully reflected in the strategy of both sides. In this regard,it is necessary to study the strategies of both sides, especially Japan's response. This paper will focus on the period from the late 1960s to the middle and late 1990s.Firstly,this paper will review the general situation of the trade war initiated by the US against Japan,;And then,on the basis of summing up Japan's response to the trade war with the US,discuss the pros and cons of Japan's response. The analysis of "gains and losses" is actually the experience and lessons of Japan in coping with the trade war,and it is a model for other countries to learn from.
