With the accelerated development of the economic globalization, international trade business has become the most important impetus to the economic growth of each country. Terms of trade, as a crucial indicator of the change of a country's benefit from foreign trade, has been one of key study projects for modern economics.People have come to the agreement to the terms that foreign trade has boosted China's economy. The trade relation between China and Japan has grown fast and the volume of trade has increased year by year, but China's Net Barter Terms of Trade on Japan (CNBTTJ) has deteriorated for a long period of time. Therefore, this paper focuses on CNBTTJ . The subject of this thesis is the CNBTTJ's change and its influencial factors since the implement China's reform and open-up policy.At first this paper give a brief comment on main theories about terms of trade. With analysis of the trade development between China and Japan, the writer concludes that the overall trend of CNBTTJ is declining. The major findings from the study are: some parts of trade policy, the characteristic of trade structure, the exchange rate, the characteristic of Japan companies are the key factors influencing CNBTTJ. On the base of the above conclutions, we can find some suggestions to improve CNBTTJ: to adjust the trade policy on Japan, to guide FDI from Japan, to optimize the trade structure, to implement competitive advantage strategy, to establish a more rational exchange rate system. Japan is one of the most important trade partners, so it is significant to develop the trade between China and Japan and to promote China economy that we study the CNBTTJ's change and give the suggestions.This paper also mentions further possible studies in this field.
