Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia in 1972,political,economic and trade ties has continued to deepen.According to statistics from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the trade volume has reached 125.60 billion US dollars between the two countries in 2017.As an important part of bilateral trade, agricultural trade is also growing.According to the statistics of the UNcomtrade database, the bilateral agricultural trade volume between China and Australia is 9.496 billion US dollars in 2017,an increase of 32.73% compared with last year.Among the trade volume,China's import value is 8.488 billion US dollars, and its export value is 1.008 billion US dollars.Australia has become an important courntry to meet China's domestic agricultural demand.Taking HS(2007)trade classification data to analyze the current situation of China-Australia agricultural trade in terms of total trade volume and trade structure. The study found that the trade volume of agricultural products between China and Australia has been increasing in the past 10 years.Bilateral trade is dominated by Chinese imports.Although the China 's exports value is also increasing, the growth rate is far less than imports.China has been on the side of a trade deficit for 10 years. The structure of China exports of agricultural products is characterized by a smaller scale and a single structure, while Australia has a larger scale and diverse structure. This article uses the export similarity index(ESI),trade complementarity index(TCI),revealed comparative advantage index(RCA),intra-industry trade index(IIT),trade intensity index(TII)and trade competitiveness(TC)commonly used in the field of international trade. The study found that:(1)In the international market, the similarity of the export trade structure between two countries is extremely small, and the degree of competition is minimal.(2)Compared with Australia,China has few agricultural products with comparative advantages in the world.(3)Intra-industry trade is the main trade situation between the two countries.(4)The agricultural products between two countries are more complementary.(5)Compared with Australia,China has few competitive agricultural products.Use the constant market share model(CMS)to analyze the growth factors of agricultural trade between China and Australia. The study found that the structural effects is the main reason for the growth of China 's exports to Australia, while the competitiveness effect is the main reason for the growth of Australian exports to China. The article puts forward policy and opinion on how to reverse China's deficit position and strengthen bilateral agricultural trade.(1)To give full play to the advantages of agricultural production resources and to build the brand effect of Chinese agricultural products export.(2)To face up the trade deficit position of our country's agricultural products and to increase policy support for agricultural products enterprises.(3)To strengthen the analysis on the growth factors of China-Australia agricultural products trade and to optimize the bilateral import and export trade structure.(4)To deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges and to build the construction of our country's trade promotion team.
