The Impact Of Reverse Spillover Of OFDI On Domestic Enterprises' Technology

Since implementation of the "going out" strategy,more and more enterprises have launched foreign direct investment activities.By 2018,foreign direct investment volume had reached 143.04 billion dollars,ranking the second in the world.As one of the important channels of technology spillover,OFDI also plays an important role in learning from advanced technology and management experience.At the same time,Guangdong Province,as China's economic province and the forefront of reform and opening up,has also occupied a leading position in China's foreign direct investment.So what kind of mechanism does FDI affect the overall technology level of enterprises,what micro factors will it be affected by,and whether enterprises can achieve their own technology improvement through FDI?Therefore,in this context,this paper takes the FDI of enterprises in Guangdong Province as an example to discuss the above problems.Firstly,the paper reviews the existence of reverse spillover effects,transmission mechanism and influencing factors,as the theoretical basis for the follow-up micro analysis.Secondly,the paper analyzes the current situation of OFDI and innovation ability of enterprises in Guangdong Province.It mainly includes the development of investment,spatial distribution,industry distribution,R&D expenditure and innovation output.Thirdly,it expounds the way and mechanism of realizing the reverse spillover effect and the influencing factors.On this basis,representative enterprise Huawei Company is selected to make case analysis through its development of foreign direct investment and innovation output results.Fourthly,the panel data of 268 listed private enterprises in Guangdong Province are selected to test the impact of OFDI on the technological level of enterprises.The empirical results show that enterprises' OFDI play a significant role in promoting their own technology level.With the increase of R&D investment and enterprise scale,the overall technology level of enterprises will be improved.At the same time,investment in developed countries makes the reverse spillover effect of technology more significant.Finally,based on the above research results,this paper puts forward suggestions from two aspects:increasing investment and enhancing absorptive capacity,and from two angles of government and enterprise,for enterprises to use OFDI to improve technology level.
