Study On Changes And Influencing Factors Of Potato Export Trade In Shandong Province

Shandong Province is one of the major potato producing provinces in China,and is also the province with the highest yield of potato over the years,which is close to the yield level of the most developed potato producing countries.At the same time,Shandong province is also a big potato export province.Since the potato staple food strategy,the potato planting area in the whole country has increased greatly.The high-quality potatoes in Shandong province are facing increasing market competition.Export has become an effective way to ensure the sustainable development of the potato industry.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the potato export problem in Shandong province.In order to study the development status,trade complementarity and countermeasure analysis of potato export trade in Shandong province,this paper mainly applies the relevant theoretical knowledge of comparative advantage theory and trade protection theory,and uses the trade competitive advantage index to express the export situation of potato in Shandong province in the international market competition more intuitively by mathematical method,obtains the influencing factors of potato export trade in Shandong province by using gravity model and analyzes its results,and finally puts forward the policy suggestions of promoting potato export in Shandong province.(1)The import and export of potato in Shandong Province occupies a certain position in the country,and the growth trend is obvious.The proportion of potato exports in Shandong Province is far greater than that of imports,that is,potato exports in Shandong Province have a strong advantage in the country.Judging from the structure of import and export products,fresh or frozen potatoes except for planting are the most exported,while potato starch is the most imported.Shandong Province’s potato import and export enterprises are mainly concentrated in Sino-foreign joint ventures,wholly foreign-owned enterprises,collective enterprises and private enterprises.In the import and export market,private enterprises export the most potatoes.(2)Shandong’s potato exports have been showing a steady upward trend,and 2014 is the year with the fastest growth in potato exports.Shandong Province’s potato exports are mainly concentrated in Malaysia,Sri Lanka,Japan and Singapore,with Malaysia being the largest export market,but the proportion of export scale in total exports fluctuates greatly and decreases slightly.The proportion of potato exports to the other three countries in the total export volume is not much different,and the overall situation is stable.(3)Shandong’s potato exports to various countries have increased and decreased,but the overall trend is upward with a larger increase.Shandong Province’s potato exports to Malaysia account for a much larger proportion of its total exports than Malaysia,Sri Lanka,Japan and Singapore.Different from the export scale,the proportion of potato exports to Japan is much higher than that of the other two countries.The proportions of Sri Lanka and Singapore are still not much different.(4)Malaysia,Sri Lanka and Japan are more dependent on imports in potato consumption than Singapore and have comparative advantages in potato import.Singapore does not have a comparative advantage in potato import and its import dependence is relatively small.The export of potatoes from the four countries to balassa is much smaller than that from Shandong to balassa,which shows that Shandong has certain export advantages over its trading partners.(5)Shandong’s potato export has no comparative advantage in theory,but its potato export trade has good prospects.Although the comparative advantage of Shandong’s potato exports to its major trading partners is not obvious at this stage,there is still a good development prospect.(6)The gross domestic product and import dependence of Malaysia,Sri Lanka,Singapore and Japan have significantly promoted China’s potato export trade,while the population of the four countries has limited the development of China’s potato export trade.Based on the above research results,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions to promote potato export in Shandong province.We will continue to expand Shandong’s "going global" strategy for potato exports,adhere to the indicative comparative advantages,enhance foreign trade,rely on resource endowments,improve the international competitiveness of potatoes,optimize the market structure,establish a diversified market system,pay attention to brand building,and actively explore markets.
