Study On The Comparative Advantage Of Potato Production In Shaanxi Province

Shaanxi Province is very suitable for the growth and development of potatoes and the accumulation of various organic substancesdue to the abundant sunshine,cool and dry climate and large temperature difference between day and night.Therefore,the potato planting area in Shaanxi Province is relatively large,which is one of the dominant potato production areas in China.Firstly,this study studied the planting scale,yield and profit of potato in Shaanxi Province in the last decade.The production and planting area of potato in Shaanxi Province has shown a trend of two liters and one drop in the last decade.Among them,the area planted in 2007 was the lowest with a total of 241,600 hectares.The highest planting area in 2016 was 366,400 hectares.During 2012 to 2016,the average planting cost of potatoes in Shaanxi Province increased year by year,the average selling price fell first and then rose,and the net profit showed a downward trend.Secondly,this study analyzes the scale advantages,efficiency advantages and comprehensive advantages of potato production in Shaanxi Province.It shows that the potato production in Shaanxi Province has a strong scale advantage(SAI=1.84),ranking ninth in the country.The potato production in Shaanxi Province has a weak efficiency advantage(EAI=1.03),ranking eleventh in the country.The potato production in Shaanxi Province has a weak comparative advantage(AAI=1.37),ranking ninth in the country.Thirdly,This study analyzes the factors that influence the comparative advantage of potato production in Shaanxi Province.Location factors are mainly reflected in the fact as follows: Shaanxi Province is far away from the sales market and the transportation is inconvenient and can not grasp the accurate information required for potato planting in time.Natural factors are mainly reflected in the lack of water resources in Shaanxi Province,,less available land resources,and relatively poor natural conditions.Market factors are mainly reflected in the market demand for potatoes directly affect the price,diversity and quality of potatoes.Technical factors are mainly reflected in the use of related technologies to effectively prevent pests and diseases,reduce planting costs,increase production and quality,and then increase economic efficiency.Based on the above,the comparative advantage of potato production in Shaanxi Province is mainly affected by the mode of production,market demand and cultivated land area,followed by the transportation conditions and the financial support of the government.Fourthly,some countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to improve the comparative advantage of potato production in Shaanxi Province.(1)Increase the potato production area reasonably according to the principle of comparative advantage;(2)Strengthen water conservancy construction to increase the available cultivated land area;(3)Strengthen government support to improve the enthusiasm of farmers to grow potatoes;(4)Strengthen the cultivation and promotion of potato varieties;(5)Promote mechanized planting methods,improve production efficiency;(6)Strengthen scientific guidance,reduce the harm of pests and diseases;(7)Accelerate the development of potato processing industry.
